2022 is the fourth season of production on seven acres, composed mainly of timothy, orchard grass and clover.
Three cuttings are anticipated, and the overage will be for sale for part of the first and all of the second and third cuttings at $4.25/bale (for delivery out of the field) and $4.50 for stored hay.
This year I am anticipating purchasing a new mini-round baler, which will produce 50# round bales of 20"x28". They are stored like cord firewood. This upgrade automates the field harvest, thus eliminating the need for physical labor to stack on the wagon.
At right: 2021 production in June, first cutting, totaling 160 bales using a baler from the 1960s!
